PHOTOS: $2.8 Million Home Named 'Home of the Year'

Take a peek inside this Sunset Trail home, named as one of the top luxury homes of the year.

Despite competition from luxury properties around the world, a 6,700-square-foot, $2.8 million house on Sunset Trail was named “Home of the Year” by high-end real estate magazine Unique Homes.

“To be selected as the winner for Home of the Year in its category ($1 million to $4,999,999) truly shows how spectacular this home is,” realtor Nancy Gibson of Northbrook’s said in a press release. “Its one of a kind features, design and amenities place it in a category of its own.”

Gibson’s listing at 3345 Sunset Trail was judged on design, technology, views, ability to entertain and overall “wow” factor.

And “wow” factor is indeed in abundance at the home built by luxury custom homebuilder Orren Pickell Builders and Design. The house has five bedrooms, each with its own private balcony and bathroom, a banquet-sized dining room, cherry-paneled library, exercise room and soundproofed home theater with leather seats and a 96-inch screen.

Oh yes, and the house also has a free-floating spiral staircase surrounded by two stories of curved glass, hand-applied silver-leaf pillars in the great room, sunroom, and in-ground pool with a waterfall Jacuzzi.
