Office Safety During Halloween

Keep your office a safe place during this Holiday season.

Halloween is just around the corner, and your restless office may be in the mood to celebrate this year. As a business owner, you always want to encourage a festive atmosphere where your employees can have fun and take a break from the regular routine. However, keeping their safety in mind is important too. So as your team prepares for this spooky holiday, remember to prevent accidents or injuries on site as well.

During a time like Halloween, you office space may experience more foot traffic than usual, lots of celebratory decorations, and of course, tons of candy. However, with these added distractions could come slips, trips, and other injuries in the workplace. This is why training and refreshing employees on workplace safety is key. Make sure they are familiar with their surroundings and responsibilities, especially when a holiday arrives. Decorations are the items most likely to cause potential accidents and injuries. If an employee is thinking about using real candles as decorations, advise them to use fake or battery powered ones instead. This can help avoid fire hazards since many of the spooky signs you put up will most likely be made of paper materials.

Also, if stringed lights are hung throughout the office, make sure you use the extension cords properly. Aside from potential trips and falls, they are also a fire hazard. This is why selecting a smart location for the lights is an important step. Do not block exits, aisle ways, or anything that would make it difficult to get out in an emergency situation. Also, make sure decorations are secured properly and people can navigate around them because you don’t want one falling on someone’s head or obstructing someone’s view when carrying a heavy load.

When getting into the holiday spirit, make safety a priority on your list. Heightening everyone’s awareness is a good direction to take on Halloween. At Bassler & Co., we know you want to keep the workplace comfortable and fun for all. With these tips, you can achieve this and still have a spooky, sweet filled day in the office!
