Smile this Thanksgiving!

Smile and be thankful this Thanksgiving!

Thinking of one last thing to add to your Thanksgiving table
this year? How about a smile. Something so simple yet so contagious that its spreads countless emotions to one another.

So why don’t we do it as much as we should? Being the week
of giving, why not give a smile? The reason I bring this up is because we are
becoming a selfish society and don’t even know it. After watching a video of a
15 year old Sierra Leon boy visiting Boston for the first time, it opened my
mind about the society around us. In his interview he said he missed home
because, “no one smiles back at me”. This touched my heart and made me reflect
on the interactions I have when I walk through the city. I smile at everyone I
make eye contact and they smile back. Why not spread something as contagious as a smile and make the world a better place?

Thanksgiving is a time of coming together and being grateful
for what we have. If we all decided to do one thing like share a smile, for
even just this week, it could do so much. So for the mothers slaving away
cooking a perfect meal for her family, the kids doing all they can around the
house to make sure the mothers stay sane and for the fathers that know their
only job is serve drinks, cut the turkey and stay out of that woman’s kitchen-
stop and give each other a smile. It’ll complete the whole holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
