CASA Lake County netted $175,000 at its 9th annual Spring Gala: Seeds of Hope 2013 dinner held May 4 at the Chicago Botanic Garden with Micah Materre, WGN-TV news anchor, as master of ceremonies.

The fast paced evening events with 290 guests had 67 silent auction, 6 live auction items and other activities that included an exciting performance by Team Go!, a rap group starring Eddy Bars, who had a CASA advocate help him when he was in a foster home. He said this performance is one way in of paying back CASA advocates.

CASA trains and presently supervises 215 volunteers who advocate for a record high 577 abused and neglected children who through no fault of their own are in the Lake County juvenile court system. CASA also offers a Young Professionals organization.
