(14-2) GBN Freshman-A Take Advantage of Weak Niles North Defense to Win 21-3

The GBN Freshman-A team continued to roll on Tuesday afternoon easily out dueling Niles North 21-3.  Early in this contest through three innings the score was close with GBN up only 3-2.  Jared Epstein had pitched well for the freshman squad and the Niles North ace was matching Epstein pitch for pitch.  However, in the bottom half of the fourth, the wheels fell off for Niles North as GBN chased away three pitchers and scored 18 runs.  

Outstanding hitting performances were turned in by Brandon Labunski, David Burnside, Matt Tedeschi, Jared Epstein, and Peter Witty.  Virtually everyone got into the mix in this affair with multiple at bats and opportunities.  Brandon Labunski came on in relief for Jared Epstein to throw one frame and allowing only one run.  

The GBN Freshman-A team has consistently averaged double digits scores and with the Central Suburban League games now beginning, they will need to continue to deliver the offensive punch and build on several games of better defensive efforts.  Moreover, the pitching will also have to progress as well.  In the past few games, it has seemed as though the boys are feeling more comfortable and finding their way on the field.  There is more communication and players seem loose and enjoying themselves out there.  

Coach Graham is pleased with his team's progress and loves the coach-ability of these players and their desire to work and improve.  The next GBN Freshman-A game will be played at Niles North on Thursday, April 19th at 4:45 P.M.  On Friday, the rain-out from Monday will be played against New Trier at GBN at 4:45 PM.  Come out and watch the boys play.  They are a great team with lot's of talent.
