A Baseball Mitt Can Save a Child's Life!

Too many children in the world are born into lives with little or no hope. Gear for Goals is changing that around the world.

Although it may sound trite or silly, a single baseball mitt can save a child's life.  So often in our world of fast pace and bombarded signals we can lose sight that a single gesture of love and compassion when shared with a child can and often does turn the world on different axis for that single child.  A gift of compassion and love may be the single seed of hope a child desperate for love, food, water, or clothing may have on the day or at the very moment he receives his gift.  This gift may have taken a long journey from another child half way around the world who may never know his new friend who has received the single most important gift he may ever know. We must ask ourselves when we see the amazing talents who flash their brilliance on Sports Center or play their way into the hearts of adoring fans at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, what if that man or woman had never received a ball, a mitt, or a violin to play?  What if he/she never had the coaching, the mentors, or the love and nurturing to grow their seed into a mightly oak of talent we honor, respect, and come to count on for entertainment and joy?

In our consumer driven society we often buy and buy and buy our way to an elaborate or sometimes fantastic abundance of more than we can every use or certainly need.  Our children's needs can and often are placed on pedestal and when we make purchase decisions to support their greatness in sport or the arts, we open our hearts and our wallets.  Many of our children are blessed with bikes, baseball mitts, footballs, basketballs, hockey sticks, golf clubs, boxing gloves, baseballs, badminton sets, and more.  We have a treasure trove of plenty hanging, stored or simply sitting outside in our yards that is used for a short time and then goes unused and often deteriorates without ever having fully been used to it's full life potential.  Thousands of dollars and thousands of pounds of resource accumulate in our lives that can be provided as resource to a child in another country or even in our own community.

Sometimes we simply get tired of looking at all of it and toss it in a trash container or maybe donate it to a charity for which we know not where the final end and care will be delivered.  There are opportunities given to provide this gear to another sibling or neighbor and this can be a honorable steward and care of the resource.  But what if you don't know what to do with gear, the instruments, the things that could change a child's life?

Providing resource to children around the world is the mission of hope for Gear for Goals and this charitable endeavor can be the opportunity you may be seeking to share your blessings of plenty and give resource to children who have little or nothing.  Too many children are born into lives with little or no hope.  When you give of your plenty that is probably just lying around, your gift can be the seed that grows into a mighty oak.  Gear for Goals is a 501C3 charity project of Dreamweaver International.  In June, Gear for Goals is hosting a mega gear drive with the Schaumburg Boomers Baseball Team of the Frontier League and welcomes your participation as a guest and donor at the game, or a volunteer, or just a supporter. The game is Friday, June 21st at 6:30 PM. To learn more about Gear for Goals and their programs you may visit their website at www.dreamweaver911.org
