Baseball Report - Stocking and Tedeschi Power GBN To Victory Over Deerfield

GBN Freshman A (25-6) Continue to Roll Closing Out Last Week of Season

Matt Tedeschi came up big today in a 6-4 victory over CSL rival, Deerfield.  Tedeschi has been a consistent force from the four spot most of the year and today he proved his value in that slot once again.  With the Spartans tied 1-1in the third, Tedeschi came to plate after David Burnside had been issued a walk and stole second.  Tedeschi then ripped a fastball to the right center gap for stand up double, pushing GBN into the lead.

Later as the game see-sawed back and forth, Tedeschi came to plate again and hit a towering shot over the centerfielder's head that nearly left the yard to put the Spartans up again.  However, the Warriors did not go away and battled back to a 4-3 lead.  But GBN was able to overcome this lead once again and go on to win eventually 6-4.

Pitching in this game, Jared Epstein was solid through 5 innings allowing 3 runs.  Sage Bruhl came on to close the game in the last two frames and provided the needed outs to secure the victory.

Robert Stocking, Brice Call, and David Burnside handed in notable hitting performances in this game.  Stocking hit a towering stand up triple that scored a run in the middle innings to put his team up.  Call and Burnside both hit strong doubles to help the Spartan scoring.

The Freshman and Varsity teams travel to Deerfield for Wednesday games and Saturday are home against Libertyville.
