Freshman A Shutout Maine East Thursday Behind Labusnki and Witty Pitching

18-4 GBN Freshman-A Continue to Roll Blanking Maine East

GBN Freshman A have amassed an impressive string of victories this Spring and continued with their dominance on Thursday overpowering Maine East on the GBN home field.  Starting for GBN, Brandon Labunski threw one hit ball over 4 scoreless innings and Peter Witty came on to complete the game for the shutout.  Collectively, the entire squad hit well through this game with notable hitting efforts coming in from Jared Epstein, Peter Witty, and Harrison Solano.  They each recorded multi-hit games in this one-sided affair.Much of the 2012 success the freshman baseball squads have had can be traced back to strong focus on developing players who understand the game well and use their athletic talent to their advantage.  While many of these young players were playing youth baseball from ages 9 to 14, they were exposed to fundamentals and ongoing off-season workouts which aided their skill building.  In addition, many of the stronger athletes and talented players have continued playing the sport because of their love for the game. With this class of talented young players doing so well, they offer an excellent opportunity for the GBN baseball program to flourish over the coming three years and with more focus on a healthy program at GBN, we can all look forward to more winning seasons and some great action ahead.
