GBN Sophomore win streak stopped by Deerfield in 3-1 loss

GBN drops a tough one to Deerfield 3-1

Tonight playing at Glenbrook North, the Spartan Sophomore Boys Baseball Team had their winning ways derailed by a very pesky Warrior group from Deerfield.  The pitching in this game was terrific for both sides and the game remained close throughout the contest.  However, the Warriors were able to execute on the offensive side of the plate when they needed to while the Spartans left several missed opportunities out on the base paths stranded.

In two different innings the Spartans were unable to capitalize on bases loaded situations with less than two outs and were held scoreless.  Credit has to go to the starting pitching for Deerfield along with excellent defense in the field.

Scoring the lone run for GBN, Sage Bruhl reached on a walk in the first inning and came around to score after stealing second and advancing to third on infield ground out.  Bruhl eventually scored when Brandon Labunski got stuck in a run down between first and second.

Michael Oh pitched well in this game but was unable to match the Warrior pitching.  Oh has been a steady and consistent starter on the team and continues to improve every game.  The Spartans have an opportunity to take conference title with a victory against Deerfield on Wednesday when they meet them again at Deerfield High School.
