GBN Varsity Baseball Drops Conant 8-3 to Pad 8-4 Record
GBN boys varsity rolls over Conant 8-3.
So far, the varsity baseball team has continued its success from last season, when they went deep into the playoffs and won a Central Suburban title. However, there was some concern after losing star player, Boomer Synek to graduation along with several other key seniors. Nonetheless, the senior class and incoming juniors have fueled a fundamentally sound team that wins through great pitching, air-tight defense, and timely hitting.
This past weekend was no exception as the Spartan varsity team dropped Conant 8-3 and improved their overall record to 8-4. Leading the potent Spartan attack was Doug Mazewski (2 for 2, scoring 3 runs), Brad Ruchman (1 for 3, 3 RBI's), Jason Scholl (1 for 1, triple, 1 RBI, scoring 2 runs), and John Boidanis (2 for 4, 1 RBI, scoring 1 run). Pitching for the victory, Dan Jankelow came on in relief and pitched 4 2/3 innings to secure the victory.
The Glenbrook North varsity boys team play again this Tuesday at Niles West.
