Gear for Goals teams with Hi Five Sports Camp in gear drive for kids

The Hi Five sports camps are synonymous with excellence in education and teaching sportsmanship to young people in Chicago and in the northern suburbs.  Run locally by Mr. Danny Tuchman, the camp provides a sports haven for serious minded young athletes to come everyday and compete in their favorite sports with joy, laughter, and without any shame.

This year, Gear for Goals executive director Dr. Warren Bruhl approached Mr. Tuchman with an idea to get the kids of the camp involved in a gear drive to help them realize how fortunate they are and how much is possible when a focused intiative is created.  To spearhead the event, Bruhl and Tuchman provided the young athletes with instructions to go through their garages, basements, and closets and put all the old unused gear in bags and bring it in to the camp.

The results were magnificent as the campers provided over 350 pieces of incredible items including gloves, balls, hockey sticks, skates, uniforms, and more.  Most of this equipment will be headed for the Dominican later this month and Kenya in December.  In 2013, Gear for Goals has already provided over 7500 children in twelve countries and by the end of the year they will have touched over 20,000 children with sport and the arts in 14 countries.

In addition to this gear drive, more gear can be donated by contacting Dr. Bruhl at dr.bruhl@dreamweaver911.org or by phone at 847-869-2031.
