Sente, Nekritz Light Northbrook Menorah

The Illinois lawmakers celebrated the Jewish holiday at the Lubavitch Chabad synagogue in Northbrook.

Illinois Representative Carol Sente (D-Vernon Hills) and her colleague Elaine Nekritz (D-Northbrook), joined to celebrate Hanukah this week at a menorah lighting with Rabbi Meir Moscoqitz and members of Northbrook's Lubavitch Chabad synagogue, according to a recent press release.

“Sharing our traditions and cultures with our neighbors is part of what makes the holiday season so special,” Sente said in the release. “The Chanukah festival is a special time for so many families, and I’m honored to have this opportunity tocelebrate with them by taking part in such a beautiful tradition.”

Lubavitch Chabad was founded 25 years ago as a study group for young professionals, was established as a synagogue in 2001 and has continued to take on a growing role in the northern suburbs, welcoming worshipers o fall Jewish backgrounds, affiliations and levels of observance.
