Two Illinois Players Win $1 Million in Wednesday's Powerball Drawing

Two tickets matching the winning jackpot numbers were sold in Arizona and Missouri. Watch the Powerball drawing live and check out the winning numbers.

By now, you likely know the winning Powerball tickets from Wednesday's $550 million drawing were sold in Arizona and Missouri.

Those winning tickets mactched all five of the five numbers and the Powerball number. Each winner will receive about $293.7 million.

However, right here in Illinois, two ticket holders matched all five numbers as well (not the Powerball number) and will receive $1 million each. Those tickets were sold at Casey's General Store in Fairmont, Ill., and Barts Supermarket in Flanagan, Ill., according to the Illinois Lottery results page.

Watch the drawing took place live on Powerball's YouTube channel and TV stations that featured the live drawing.

Each Powerball ticket cost $2. Players choose five numbers plus a sixth Powerball number. Players matching all six numbers can select an annuitized amount paid out over 29 years or a lump sum payment. 

ABC News reports lottery officials expect to sell more than 105,000 tickets every minute before the drawing. Despite the long odds for the big jackpot, the overall odds of winning a prize are considerably better at 1 in 55.

Tickets were selling at a rate of 130,000 a minute nationwide, according to CBS News. 

Since the last drawing on Nov. 24, the Powerball jackpot has grown by over $100 million to a record $550 million. The estimated cash payout is $360.2 million. The last set of winning numbers was drawn on Oct. 16.
