You are invited to a party at the Book Bin celebrating the publication of "Treasure Hunters", James Patterson's new young adult novel!
Mr. Patterson, the author of countless adult murder mysteries, does have one abiding passion. It's to get kids to read, and so he has started this new series for the middle grade reader that he hopes will grab some child and make him a reader for life. We think he may be on the right track.
"Treasure Hunters" is the story of four kids on a high seas adventure for fame and glory. All they have is their wits and teamwork. It's an illustrated novel; it feels like an exciting and funny movie in a book. For instance, it includes:
-- Pirates who know martial arts? Check.
-- Action sequences with illustrations? Check.
-- The word "poop deck"? Check.
This is a very "today" book and will be great to get kids to turn away from the TV and electronic gadgets. Available September 16. Ages 8 to 12.
