the concert Operetta in Exile at the
Illinois Holocaust Museum in Skokie
on September 8 at 2 PM. Operetta, with its penchant for
social satire and its disproportionate number of Jewish librettists, composers,
and performers, was bound to have a troubled relationship with the Third Reich.
In this haunting and poignant concert, Chicago Folks Operetta examines the
composers and librettists who were forced into exile, persecuted or perished. This
special multi-media concert will feature five singers and a chamber ensemble
performing these long forgotten works and telling their story. Only one performance September 8 at 2 PM at
