The Original East Meets West

The Achaemenid and Hellenistic Empires represented the original East meets West, the first time that Asia played a major role in the history of Europe and vice versa. Tobin Hartnell’s class explores the tumultuous period of time from the 6th to 4th centuries BC, which saw a new era in artistic achievement, the birth of academia, debates on human rights, and experiments in the military. The world was never the same again. Registration is $18 member; $22 non-member.
