Exhibit at First Bank of Highland Park Salutes Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary

First Bank of Highland Park’s celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA has special meaning to community residents who take pride in the fact that the first Girl Scout troop in Illinois was formed in Highland Park in 1914.

Throughout the month of March, the bank will feature an artistic and historical exhibition on its Ruth Fell Wander Community Art Wall, located in the lobby of its Highland Park location at 1835 First Street. The towering exhibit incorporates a plethora of historical artifacts – such as uniforms dating back to 1919 – along with photos and memories from local Girl Scout alumnae. Additional contributions of photos and personal thoughts from local current Girl Scouts troops are also featured.

THE RUTH FELL WANDER COMMUNITY ART WALL
The Ruth Fell Wander Community Art Wall was created in 2002 to showcase novice artwork from local schools and non-profit organizations, as well as to give visibility to the various resources and services offered to the community. Ruth Fell Wander served on First Bank of Highland Park’s Board of Directors from 1987 until 2002. She brought her endless energy, creativity and intelligence to the many committees that she participated on throughout her tenure. Ruth appreciated and loved the arts, and according to friends, her home was an expansive gallery of exciting artwork. Ruth passed away in 2002, and First Bank of Highland Park dedicated the public wall in memory of this outstanding woman who gave generously and thoughtfully to the community.
