Northfield Township Recycling Program Ends In November

Northbrook, Glenview and Northfield residents can drop off recyclable items at the Northfield Township Road District garage on week days until Nov. 15. Special chemical disposal events are also scheduled.

The following information was provided by a Northfield Township press release.

The Northfield Township Road District’s recycling program is in operation for the season. The Road District garage, located at 1928 Lehigh Ave. in Glenview, is open for recycling drop off, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, Monday through Friday.

The 2013 recycling season ends on Friday, Nov. 15th.

Residents can pull up to the front of the building, ring the bell and a member of the Road District staff will unload their cars. Some of the items accepted at the Road District garage include: household paint (oil & latex, limited to 10 one-gallon cans or two five-gallon buckets), cell phones, pagers, computer software and hardware, metal and more. Through a partnership with the Village of Northbrook, accepted recyclables can also be dropped off at the garage behind the Northbrook Village Hall on Cedar. Visit www.northbrook.il.us for times, dates and a complete list of items that are accepted for recycling.

Township residents can also dispose of certain chemicals during specific checmical recycling events on March 21 and 22, May 16 and 17, and September 26 and 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Road District garage.

The following items will be accepted: antifreeze, cleaning products that are consumer commodities only, charcoal lighter fluid, driveway sealer (limit of two five-gallon buckets), drain cleaners, paint thinners and gasoline in approved/original containers only, insecticides and herbicides.

  • No medical waste of any kind
  • No pool chemicals
  • No business/commercial waste accepted
  • All items must be in original containers
  • Identification will be checked to confirm residency
