Last Chance to Enter "Rock the Green"

Our 'Last Chance' feature lets you know about important upcoming deadlines. This week: don't miss the deadline to enter Northbrook's battle of the bands.

So you think you can rock? As in, rock the ? 

Local bands interested in entering Northbrook's Rock the Green Battle of the Bands have just one week left to turn in their applications. 

Hosted by the , the annual competition pits local bands against one another in a musical showdown at Rock the Green on Friday, June 8. On that day, one group will be crowned best band in town and take home the grand prize of $300. The winning band will also go on to play at Park Fest on June 26 and Autumnfest on Oct. 13.

To be eligible, bands must contain at least three members all under the age of 19, and at least one must be a Northbrook resident. Bands can enter by submitting an application (available at nbparks.org or at the ), a demo and a $25 application fee to Jon Pratscher at the Northbrook Park District, 3323 Walters Avenue. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Monday, April 30.

Any band that enters is eligible to participate in a free music industry workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leisure Center on Tuesday, May 8.
