To the Mom of ‘Little Muffin’

The way you shuffled into grooming, frantically opening the half door and scooping up your 'Little Muffin' is almost comical in my mind.

To the Mom of ‘Little Muffin’ –

I am shocked and disgusted at your ridiculous behavior at the pet store today.  Your dog is more well-mannered and accepting than you. Before you came back into the grooming section to pick up your little dog, your ‘Little Muffin’ sat patiently and waited for you to return with your receipt for pick-up.  Our Hazel did not care about your dog and was not even looking at your dog.  Hazel lives with a little tiny dog that bites so she tends to steer clear to avoid any puncture wounds.  I suppose Hazel was practicing some discrimination of her own avoiding your pup.

The way you shuffled into grooming, frantically opening the
half door and scooping up your ‘Little Muffin’ is almost comical in my
mind.  The fact that you nervously said you did not want your dog around other dogs was comical all in itself considering you are at a public pet grooming facility.

I wish you were there five minutes prior when an adorable old beagle and his (non judgmental) parents greeted our Hazel.  The dog (in his knitted sweater) and our Hazel sniffed and played while they waited for their nail trims.

After you left, we shopped, sniffed and greeted other pet loving people.  I saw the manager and decided to mention the (non) incident in case you called and complained about nothing, getting the fabulous groomers in trouble. As predictability would have it, I could not help but hear over the intercom ‘Manager Line One – Manager!’

We have a pit bull.  Our pit bull is not going to attack you, your dog or your child.  Our Hazel likes to sniff, kiss and cuddle.  I would honestly hope that if she did not like other dogs, I would have the common sense to tell the staff while walking in with my dog and three kids between the ages of 3-6.

I am sorry for your ignorance and misinformation when it comes to pit bulls.  I wish you did not storm off so quickly, I would have loved for you to spend some time with Hazel.

Tonight when Hazel is cuddled with the kids and images of ‘Little Muffin’ will soon be dancing in their heads, we will think of you.  Happy pit bulls to all and to all a good night!
