Chicago-area business hosts online auction to help pets displaced by Colorado wildfires

As wildfires continue to destroy areas of Colorado, communities continue to evacuate to move to safer ground. As with any disaster, that means hundreds, if not thousands of pets are being displaced while their families find a safe place to live.

A Chicago-area company is helping out. BumperPet.com is owned by Sue Yellen of Northbrook who wants to step up to help the animals by auctioning off some of her company's products with 100 percent of the proceeds going to help the animals.

Facebook auction

BumperPet.com is holding a Facebook auction to raise money to contribute to the care and well being of all animals displaced by the recent Colorado fires. The auction, which is currently underway, features a variety of BumperPet.com’s pet-related products – from tote bags and t-shirts to stickers and magnets.

Participating is simple. Just go to BumperPet.com’s Facebook page and check out the merchandise at this link. If you like an item, place your bid in the comment section. Bids increase by increments of at least a dollar. You may bid as often as you like prior to the end of the auction on Friday, July 5 at 10 p.m. Winners will be contacted and may pay via PayPal.

Helping the animals

All money from the auctions will be contributed to the two organizations that have stepped up to help the animals – the Larimer Humane Society and Pikes Peak Region Humane Society. The funds will be used to help the injured and displaced animals – the dogs, cats, horses and other pets - needing temporary or permanent care.
