Who did the Chicago Tribune write about when they said... "He's one of the most impressive challengers we've come across in this election" (Hint... it's a Northbrook resident)

Fall is in full swing... and with fall comes the elections. And in case you haven't noticed, our local elections have really heated up.

For the most part, I have stayed out of the political fray this year. But an editorial in the Chicago Tribune endorsing Jonathan Greenberg for the 57th District against Elaine Nekritz made me take a second glance.

As many of you know, I have encouraged community support and involvement in Northbrook for years. And here we have a Northbrook resident new on the scene getting involved and running up against an incumbent.

The Tribune wrote, "He’s one of the most impressive challengers we’ve come across in this election. Greenberg is endorsed."

When I spoke to Jonathan for the first time, he said that he just needs to get a Democrat in the room with him, and he is pretty sure he can get his or her vote. Hmmm...really?

Jonathan is a rabbi and worked at the bipartisan American Israel Public Affairs Committee where he advocated for a strong relationship between the U.S. and Israel. He also worked as a Business Development professional at the Indiana Department of Commerce – bringing new companies and new jobs to the State and helping local companies to grow and expand.

Jonathan doesn't have a typical Republican resume, but interestingly enough, he's one of the 'new' Republicans. One who is moderate on social issues but fiscally strict and holds financial reform in Illinois to be a top priority. Jonathan decided to run after growing increasingly frustrated with the status quo in Springfield.

Even though I will not vote in the 57th District election because I live outside its boundaries, I thought that I would still like to meet Jonathan. So that is why I am hosting him on .
