Great Job, Illinois! Seriously. No Kidding.

When was the last time you thought that the Cook County government has done a good job at anything? Think again!!! This is an invaluable website about your property. It's worth checking out!

There is a great new site that has been put together to make YOUR LIFE EASIER! Yes, your life made easier and better by the Illinois government. Isn't that an oxymoron?

You can...

  • Check your property tax bill,
  • See if your exemptions are up-to-date,
  • View appeals all the way back to 2006.

I sort of sound like a commercial, but I will tell you that I give out compliments to the Illinois government very, very sparingly. This is worth checking out though.

The Cook County Property Information Portal is a collaborative effort that combines property tax information from the Cook County Assessor’s Office, the Board of Review the Clerk’s Office, the Recorder of Deeds, and the Treasurer’s Office into one unified site.

This site will allow residents to have online access to comprehensive information about their properties such as appeal or exemption opportunities or liens, saving time and promoting efficiency for taxpayers.

On this website, a property owner will enter a PIN or address and get five years of history, in linear form and on a single screen, without having to visit various websites to determine what is owed, paid and what refunds might be available. Owners can also get information to begin the process of appealing their property taxes or apply for a missed exemption.

This portal compiles information that will hopefully be more sensitive to your needs, more convenient for use and more efficient for residents of Cook County.

I love that last line. Now, if we can only work on the Illinois Secretary of State's office!
