Northbrook Teacher Needs Votes To Get On Jeopardy

Eugene Finerman is competing to be a contestant on Jeopardy's Battle of the Decades Tournament.

Eugene Finerman, a writer and teacher from Northbrook, is one of five candidates vying for a Fan Favorite spot in Jeopardy's upcoming $1 million Battle of the Decades Tournament. 

In order to compete, Finerman must beat out four other hopefuls from the show’s first decade by garnering votes on social media and Jeopardy.com. Viewers can learn more about the candidates and vote by visiting www.Jeopardy.com/80svote or by tweeting #jeopardyvote with the contestant’s name, or via the Facebook app.

Fourteen champions from each decade (1984-19931994-2003, and 2004-2013) of the show’s run, including well-known champions Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, will fill 42 of the 45 contestant slots; the final three spots (one per decade) will be determined by viewers’ votes. 

Eugene Finerman won five games and $57,902 in his initial Jeopardy appearance in season 3. Finerman has competed in three previous Jeopardy tournaments — he placed second in the 1987 Jeopardy Tournament of Champions, winning $11,600. He was also a semifinalist in the 1990 Super Jeopardy tournament, winning $10,000, and he participated in 2005’s Ultimate Tournament of Champions, winning $25,600.
