Nick At Night: "Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra" Tonight

Nicholas Tremulis celebrates the 25th anniversary of his first album with a concert that also celebrates the release of his new album "For The Baby Doll" at City Winery tonight.

Northbrook-bred musician Nicholas Tremulis celebrates the 25th anniversary of his first album with a special concert that also celebrates the release of his new album "For The Baby Doll" at City Winery in Chicago tonight.

Nick was a mild rocker during his Crestwood School days, but he then became a wild rocker during his high school years at both Glenbrook North & Glenbrook South. He has since channeled his restlessness into a successful music career and DJ career at WXRT-FM.

It's hard to define the sound of his music. His roots come from his blues-singing mother and his jazz piano-playing father, but Nick plays rock, pop, R&B, funk/soul, folk/rock and more.

Nick writes about their new NTO "For The Baby Doll" album: “I wanted to write an album of true love songs.” ... “The good and bad of it, mind you. But mostly I wanted to tap into the untainted love of my youth that was guided by a radio filled with great operas of love from the 60‘s girl groups and their latter siblings, the glam groups of the 70’s.” Nick continues: “This is a full-on studio album. I realized we had to make the decision to either cap these songs off arrangement-wise or take them to their fully imagined conclusion. We chose the latter. Kind of like the difference between hiking up a hill or climbing a mountain.”

The "Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra" (NTO) is Nick with Rick Barnes, Larry Beers, Derek Brand & John Pirruccello. Opening for NTO tonight at 8 is the legendary Charlie Sexton who plays with Bob Dylan. This special anniversary concert/record release preview is at City Winery in Chicago.
