Who is Jim Higley:

Jim Higley was a typical middle-age dad whose world, overnight, went from the soccer field sidelines cheering on his children to the sidelines of life. At the age of forty-four, Jim became the fourth member of his immediate family to receive a diagnosis of cancer.

Jim’s book, Bobblehead Dad: 25 Life Lessons I Forgot I Knew, is an inspirational story about his journey through cancer, fatherhood, and the rediscovery of several forgotten life lessons. It’s a winning finalist of an International Book Award, a 2011 ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year finalist, and is ranked as a “Top Ten” Motivational book by Amazon Kindle.

A member of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Jim has become an inspiring voice to people worldwide who enjoy his print and online columns for the Huffington Post, Chicago Tribune’s TribLocal, and The Good Men Project. In addition to his weekly radio show, Bobblehead Dad, Jim is also a contributor to NBC Universal iVillage as one of their first “dad” iVoices. The single father of three is an insightful storyteller and motivational speaker who helps millions find meaning in the simple moments of their days. He is a finalist in the 2012 Erma Bombeck Global Writing Competition.

Described as “Martha Stewart meets MacGyver,” Jim zipped up his briefcase after a 23-year career in corporate America and became a fulltime stay-at-home dad. Since then—in addition to writing—his world centers around carpools, bake sales, attempting to make school play costumes with a glue gun, and being an available parent. Today, Jim is considered a forward-thinking, action-oriented and inspiring leader in both the cancer and parenting communities worldwide. Through his multi-media platform, he helps people, businesses and brands find and spread the message that there is value and meaning waiting in life’s nooks and crannies.

To top it all off, Jim is also the inaugural World’s Greatest Dad for Man of the House magazine. His kids, however, are requesting a recount!
