That time of year again

The International Day of CDH Awareness is on April 19th. This is the day where people from around the world come together to try to raise awareness of congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

What time of year you ask?

Not Spring...although I think everyone in Chicago is hoping we get some Spring-like weather soon.

No, I am talking about the International Day of CDH Awareness on April 19th.  This is the day where people from around the world come together to try to raise awareness of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).  CDH is a birth defect which affects more than 50,000 children per year (around the world) and only has a 50% survival rate.

My son was one of 800 to survive in the US after being diagnosed with this birth defect in 2010.  This is why I became the Illiois and Wisconsin Rep for CHERUBS.

This year I am not only hosting a balloon launch and parade to help raise awareness on April 19, but we are also raising funds to donate towards much needed CDH research.  However, 50% of the money raised towards the Chicago parade will stay local and be donated to Ann and Roberts H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and the other half will be donated to CHERUBS for CDH research at the national level.

One way I am raising money towards our donation is by doing some mini-fundraisers.  One that is active this week is the Superdawg Gives Back to CHERUBS event.  Both Superdawg locations will be donating 20% of your order total back to CHERUBS all week (when you bring in the attached flyer).

If interested in becoming a Chicago Parade sponsor or for more information on the parade, let me know at nrubenstein@cherubs-cdh.org
