Memorial Day Hours. In honor of Memorial Day, no classes or programs are scheduled for Monday May 26. The Y facility will be open from 6:00am to noon, and KidZone babysitting will be open from 8:30am to noon. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Get Ready for Y Summer Classes! General Registration Open Now. The North Suburban Y’s Summer Program Guide is full of classes to keep the whole family busy and active. Summer Camps are Filling Up Fast! The Y offers a wide variety top-quality day camps to satisfy every need. Some weeks are already filled; register NOW to secure your spots! Parents are invited to an informational meeting at the Y on Thursday, June 5 at 6:00pm. Check out the Camp Guide on the Y website, www.nsymca.org. Rock Band Mini Camp. The Christopher Laughlin School of Music presents a full day mini camp at the Y this summer, open to guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists and vocalists ages 10- 15. Campers will be grouped into bands and work with one instructor on the fundamentals of playing in a rock band. The camp will be offered in two one-week sessions in June. Community Gallery for May. The YMCA’s Community Gallery welcomes artists Zhaoyu Vance Wan and Jan Keller Schultz for a month-long exhibit inspired by traditional Asian styles of artwork. Their work will be on display throughout May. Artwork is available for purchase, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the North Suburban Y. NSSOD Dance Recitals, June 8. Students from the Y’s North Suburban School of Dance present their annual recitals at the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts at Glenbrook North High School on Sunday, June 8. Dancers in grades pre-K through 2 perform at noon, and grades 3 through adult perform at 4:00pm. Admission is free with open seating. Glenbrook North is located at 2300 Shermer Road in Northbrook. NSYMCA Adventure Guides Upcoming Events. Adventure Guides offers loads of opportunities for dads to make special memories with their kids. Upcoming events include: Odyssey Daddy/Daughter Dance on May 29, Pioneer Expedition at Camp Edwards on May 31-June 1, and the Lakeshore Expedition at Camp Duncan on June 7-8. Kindergarten Club registration open for Fall 2014. Do you have a child in half-day kindergarten? Enrich their experience with the Y’s Kindergarten Club extension program! Kindergarten Club creates a fun, full-day experience to support your child’s social and academic development. Afternoon sessions are available, including transportation to/from public schools in Northbrook  as well as St. Norbert’s. Hot lunches, snacks, and even swim lessons are all included! Exercise Connection, a leader in physical fitness training for individuals with special needs, now offers a fitness course for youth and adults with autism spectrum disorders at the North Suburban Y. Classes focus on core skills including body image, posture, motor coordination, muscular fitness and cardiovascular fitness.  Northbrook resident and Director in Training for the Exercise Connection, Laura Fine will lead the class. Ready for a Break? The Y is proud to offer professional massage services from Align Wellness Center. Appointments are available for 25 minute or 55 minute sessions in our comfortable Health Center, adjacent to our adult locker rooms. Sign up for appointments at the Y front desk.
