Community Vendor Marketplace. Business owners: meet and greet your future customers at the Y’s annual Local Vendor Community Market Day! Local businesses from around the Y’s 15-city region are invited to showcase their products and talents at the Y on Saturday, March 16 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. This is a great opportunity to engage with Y members and visitors – up to 1500 people on a typical weekend! Participants must make a minimum $100 donation (tax deductible) to the NSYMCA Strong Kids Fund. Space is limited! For registration information, contact Barb Flanagin, bflanagin@nsymca.org.

Save the Date: 8th Annual Strong Kids Dinner, April 30. Join the entire Y community for a gala evening of celebration at the Ken & Alta Thiel Strong Kids Fundraising Dinner, Wednesday April 30 at the Northbrook Hilton. Enjoy fabulous food, bid on terrific live and silent auctions, play along with exciting games, and support the Y’s Strong Kids Financial Assistance Program. Gym Closed for 3-on-3 Tournament. Please note that the main gym will be closed on Saturday, March 8 from 10:30 to 4:30, to accommodate our annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. Studio D will be available after 3:30pm for pick-up basketball.

Substance Abuse Workshops. NCDAA will partner with Family Service Center for a substance abuse presentations at the Northbrook Covenant Church, 2737 Techny Road. "Thanks for the Feedback" Seminars. NCDAA is pleased to support the Family Action Network Speaker Series, which welcomes notable experts for free, open-to-the-public presentations on topics that matter to families, teachers, and the community. On March 10 and 11, Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen of the Negotiation Project at Harvard Law School present "Thanks for the Feedback", a three-part workshop on the science and art of receiving feedback well. Teen Body Image Workshop. The Y will partner with Center for Discovery for “Inside Out”, a workshop for teens and parents to address issues of healthy body image, on March 15 from 1:00 to 4:00pm. This fun and informative program encourages parents and teens to support each other in building a healthy self-image from the inside out. Fees for members are $30 for one parent with one teen, $10 for each additional family member; non-members, $35 for one parent with one teen and $15 for each additional family member. Student Art Show at the Northbrook Library. Throughout March, the Northbrook Public Library will showcase artwork by students in the Y’s Visual Arts Program. Every student has something on display! The art teachers will host an informal reception for students and their families on March 9 from 3:00 to 4:45 pm. Stop by to say hello and learn more about upcoming spring and summer art programs at the Y.

Dive for Gold. Celebrate your inner leprechaun – join the Y aquatic staff as we dye our pool green and go diving for “gold” coins on March 15 from 2:00 to 3:45. Free for all Y members.

Family Fitness Fridays. Bring the kids – and the grandparents – for a fun fitness class every Friday in February from 6:00 to 6:45pm. This members-only class is free of charge! All children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, contact Margo Leaman, mleaman@nsymca.org.

Kids Ride to the Y. Simplify your life – let the Y Bus pick up your kids after school and bring them to their Y classes! Transportation is available for a small fee from elementary and middle schools in Northbrook and Glenview. Contact Shannon Cartier at scartier@nsymca.org for more information.

Basketball/Volleyball Private Lessons. Hoping to jumpstart a new sport, or focus on perfecting your skills? The Y offers private basketball and volleyball lessons for all ages to deliver customized coaching in a comfortable setting. Contact Carol Sassorossi, csassorossi@nsymca.org,  for more information.

Exercise Connection, a leader in physical fitness training for individuals with special needs, now offers a fitness course for youth and adults with autism spectrum disorders at the North Suburban Y. Classes focus on core skills including body image, posture, motor coordination, muscular fitness and cardiovascular fitness.  Northbrook resident and Director in Training for the Exercise Connection, Laura Fine will lead the class. Ready for a Break? The Y is proud to offer professional massage services from Align Wellness Center. Appointments are available for 25 minute or 55 minute sessions in our comfortable Health Center, adjacent to our adult locker rooms. Sign up for appointments at the Y front desk. Do you have a child in half-day kindergarten? Enrich their experience with the Y’s Kindergarten Club extension program! Kindergarten Club creates a fun, full-day experience to support your child’s social and academic development. Afternoon sessions are available, including transportation to/from public schools in Northbrook  as well as St. Norbert’s. Hot lunches, snacks, and even swim lessons are all included! Also, check out Y-Time, the NSYMCA’s afterschool program for grades K-5. Limited openings available in each program.
