Inge Ohringer Died Wednesday, Funeral on Friday

The late Northbrook resident's family fled Nazi Germany shortly after her birth.

Inge Ohringer, 83, was born in Heidelberg, Germany on March 5, 1929. After Kristalnacht, her father was imprisoned in Dachau until they were able to flee in 1939 on the S.S. St. Louis. Being turned away from Havana, Cuba she had the good fortune to be granted refuge in England until settling in the U.S. and eventually in Northbrook.

Ohringer died on Wednesday morning. She was the beloved wife of the late Siegmund Ohringer. Loving mother of Judy (Mark) Weiner and Jack Ohringer (Elyssa Neiberg). Proud grandmother of Joshua, Michelle and Irwin Weiner, Sampson, Isabella, and Sidonia Ohringer. Dear sister of Carol (Russ) Albright.

Graveside services Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Gardens Cemetery (Section C), 6758 W. Addison, Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walter Lawson Children’s Home, 1820 Walter Lawson Drive, Loves Park, IL 61111.
