Northbrook Obituary: Walter Marr III, 82

The former stockbroker turned entrepreneur will be remembered at a memorial service Saturday.

Walter L. Marr III

“Skip” Marr, 82, of Lake Forest and formerly Northbrook, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2014.

Loving husband of 58 years to Marilyn (nee Gleason); proud father of Scott (Ann); James and Paul (Susan) Marr; adored grandfather of Robert, Christopher, Michelle and Katherine Marr; fond brother of Richard (Sue) Marr; close brother-in-law of Thomas Gleason; uncle to Christine, Richard, Debbie and Peter.

Skip was a loyal graduate of Northwestern University, member of Psi Upsilon fraternity and a U.S. Army veteran.

He began his career as a stockbroker, then became an entrepreneurial business broker, and also joined Skokie Country Club.An avid sportsman, golfer, curler, sailor and horseman, he generously shared with friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 26 at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 E. Westminster, Lake Forest. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
