Obituary: Richard T. “Rick” Sanders; Northbrook Resident, Winnetka Business Owner
Sanders, 63, died Sunday. Visitation is Thursday and his funeral is Friday.
Richard T. “Rick” Sanders, 63, of Northbrook passed away on October 21.
Sanders was the proud owner of Vose-Sanders Bootery, a 90-year-old shoe store in Winnetka.
Sanders was the loving husband of Carol McHugh Sanders; dear son of Ted and Wanda Sanders; beloved brother of Walter (Sharon), the late Teddy James, Carolynne, and Michael (Martha); beloved uncle of Will, Emma, Tess, Harry, Teddy, Livia, and Maia; beloved nephew of Wally Dowd, the late Stanley and the late Helen Wozniak, the late Walter Jr. and Rosemarie Wozniak and their families; beloved son-in-law of Dolores and the late Patrick McHugh; dear brother-in-law of Patty and Michael Christensen; Michael and Joan McHugh and Michael's son Mathew, William, and Mary McHugh and their children Kelly, Sean, and Billy; and grateful recipient of a kidney donated by Libby Joyce.

A business owner who put thousands of shoes on Winnetka’s feet, he will long remembered for his exceptional customer and community service. He served on the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for six years, including terms as treasurer and secretary.
He proudly graduated from Loyola Academy in 1967 and Bradley University in 1972. Rick was an avid reader, crossword puzzler, traveler and Loyola Academy sports team supporter. Rick had a kind and gentle spirit and will be greatly missed.

Visitation Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd., at Old Orchard Rd., Skokie, IL 60077.
Funeral Mass Friday, October 26, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove Street, Glenview, IL 60025.
