29-Year Fire Department Veteran Promoted To Deputy Chief

Bob Brogan, former district chief, takes over as deputy chief in place of Jim Richards.

District Chief Bob Brogan was promoted to deputy chief Wednesday, taking the place of former Deputy Chief Jim Richards.

Brogan, who has served with the fire department for 29 years and started as a firefighter, was honored in a ceremony Wednesday at , 740 Dundee Road. Several members of his family and village staff were present. 

Brogan joins fellow Deputy Chief Ron Schinleber, who is in charge of the fire department’s operations division. Brogan will oversee the department’s administrative division, including human resources and facilities.

“Bob’s had a very good career with us,” said Schinleber. “We’re really happy that he’s had this opportunity to step up and we expect great things from him.”

The former deputy chief, Jim Richards, has taken on different responsibilities within the department, according to Schinleber.
