$5,500 Motor Stolen Off Boat in Driveway

A store employee was also arrested for making more than $6,000 in fraudulent returns.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Theft

Julio R. Navarro, 47, was identified as the person observed on video removing aluminum poles from the rear of a business in the 3100 block of Commercial Avenue May 11 and loading them onto his vehicle. He was arrested for theft and released on $1,500 bond with a June 9 court date.

In a separate incident, someone removed a 15-foot steel light pole with a triple light head that was kept in the rear of a business in the 3100 block of Commercial Avenue overnight May 19.

Someone stole a wallet out of a backpack in the 2300 block of Shermer Road on May 9.

Someone stole a Honda 4-cycle boat motor from the a boat that was parked in a driveway in the 900 block of Sutton Drive between May 22 and 24. The estimated loss is $5,500.         

Someone stole a jewelry pouch from a residence in the 2900 block of Keystone Road.

Dongyui Lee, 21, of Virginia Beach, VA was an employee at a store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road and had been making fraudulent returns since March totaling $6,479.65. He was contacted by investigators and came into the police station May 16 and was arrested for theft. He has a June 4 court date.

Battery

Raymond D. Philpot, 40, of Chicago, and another employee started to physically fight over a job-related issue May 28 in the 1800 block of Shermer Road. Philpot allegedly struck the victim in the head with his fist causing a cut. When officers arrived, the parties had been separated by coworkers. Philpot was arrested on battery charges, and released on $1,500 bond with a June 17 court date.
