Arraignment Set For Northbrook Man Charged With Felony Domestic Battery In 65th Arrest

Charges include two counts of aggravated domestic battery and one count of aggravated unlawful restraint .

A Northbrook man charged with brutally beating a woman and threatening to kill her two children will have the opportunity to plead guilty or not guilty to three felony charges on Nov. 15. According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, his arrest for domestic battery was his 65th arrest in just 10 years.

Francisco Tirado, 27, a resident of unincorporated Northbrook, is charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery and one count of aggravated unlawful restraint, all felonies, after an incident that occurred in unincorporated Northbrook on Sept. 22. He is also charged with two separate misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and one misdemeanor count of interference with emergency communications in connection with the same incident.

Tirado appeared in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie for the domestic battery charges on Tuesday. At that court date, Judge Lauren Gottainer Edidin set an arraignment for Tuesday, Nov. 15. Edidin also extended a protection order that prohibits Tirado from contacting the victim and her family.

The charges stem from an incident that began the night of Wednesday, Sept. 21, when Tirado allegedly came home very drunk and beat his girlfriend so violently that one of her eyes swelled shut. The following day he assaulted her again, then threatened to kill her 5-week-old and 16-month-old children, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Tirado’s long history with the court system includes prior charges for aggravated assault with a weapon, robbery, reckless conduct, domestic battery causing bodily harm, and striking and spitting in the face of a law enforcement officer. He currently remains in jail on $300,000 bond.
