Bible Study Teacher Receives Two Year Probation and Fine

Na Yun Choi pled not guilty to charges of criminal and aggravated sexual assault after police said they found her naked in a car with a 15-year-old boy last year. Her sentencing was for a lesser, misdemeanor charge.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Garritt Howard sentenced Na Yun Choi to pay a $400 fine and to two years probation for a misdemeanor battery charge, according to the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The charges were reduced from a .

Howard dismissed a felony aggravated sexual assault charge against . His actions took place Aug. 28.

Patch tried to get more information on why the felony charge was dropped. The Northfield-based law offices of  defended Choi, but declined to comment on the outcome. A representative of the Cook County State's Attorney could not be reached as of press time.

Police arrested Choi in October 2011 after an officer noticed a car with steamed-up windows and its lights off in Wood Oaks Green Park. The officer allegedly found Choi inside, naked, with the 15-year-old boy. According to court documents, Choi was the boy’s Bible study teacher.
