Blotter: 2 Drivers Leave Scene of Accident, Ruse Burglary on Four Winds

Police report activity from Oct. 23 - 29.

The items below came from  reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DRIVERS LEAVE SCENE OF TWO SEPARATE CAR ACCIDENTS

Guadalupe M. Morrenoosrino, 29, of Wheeling, was arrested after he was involved in a three-car accident at Techny Road and Second Street Wednesday, Oct. 26, according to police. When police responded to the scene of the accident around 7:30 a.m., they heard that one of the drivers had left on foot. At about 8:50 a.m., Morrenoosrino returned. Police arrested him on charges of driving with a revoked license, driving without proof of insurance and leaving the scene of an accident.

After an unrelated car accident at Waukegan Road and Kiest Avenue Thursday, Oct. 27, Nicolas Novarro, 32, of Waukegan, was also arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident. Police officers allegedly found him in the 1800 block of Thornwood Lane, where he allegedly admitted that he had left the scene because he didn’t have a driver’s license. Novarro was also charged with driving without a valid license or insurance and failing to yield, according to police.

RUSE BURGLARY ON FOUR WINDS LANE

A resident of Four Winds Lane was the victim of a ruse burglary on Wednesday, Oct. 26, according to police. Two individuals came her door around 1:40 p.m. and stated that they were looking at a water meter next door and needed to examine the homeowner’s water heater. Once inside, one of the individuals kept her occupied in the basement while the second went through the drawers in a bedroom. A bracelet of unknown value was reported missing.

DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE

Priscilla Z. Tan, 31, of Chicago, was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested at 1500 Lake Cook Road Sunday, Oct. 23, according to police. She was charged with driving without headlights and driving with a suspended license.

Valentin Dragos, 26, of Chicago, was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested on Willow Road at Interstate 294 Saturday, Oct. 29, according to police. He was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license.

POSSESSION OF CANNABIS

Samuel Yoon, 27, of Glenview, was stopped for a traffic violation Monday, Oct. 24, in the 1000 block of Midway Road, according to police. An officer noticed the smell of burnt cannabis coming from his car and found a glass pipe in the center console and a grinder in the driver’s side map pocket. He also discovered that Yoon was carrying a small plastic bag of cannabis in his sock. Yoon was arrested and charged with disobeying a stop sign, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police. 

RETAIL THEFT AT BEST BUY, WHOLE FOODS, LOUIS VUITTON

Michael J. Barone, 18, of Winnetka, was issued a local ordinance citation for retail theft Monday, Oct. 24, after he allegedly walked past the last cash register at Best Buy in Northbrook without paying for three Xbox video games and a memory card, according to police.

Toby Green, 53, of Buffalo Grove, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she allegedly left Whole Foods Friday, Oct. 28, without paying for $110 worth of merchandise, according to police.

A man was caught on a surveillance video camera stealing a pair of sunglasses worth $720 from the Louis Vuitton store at Northbrook Court Thursday, Oct. 27, according to police. 

LEAF-BLOWING DISPUTE GETS PHYSICAL

A resident of Whitfield Road got into an argument with her neighbor Sunday, Oct. 23, because he was blowing leaves onto her property. When she asked him to stop, he pushed her, she told police. But her neighbor said that he pushed her only after she punched him in the face. Both neighbors agreed to “leave each other alone,” according to police. 

DOMESTIC BATTERY ON WALTERS AVENUE

John O. Bernard, 20, of Northbrook, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 25, and charged with domestic battery after he struck a male relative during an altercation at Walters Avenue and Shermer Road, according to police. 

STOLEN LOVESEAT, BLACK URNS

A resident of Woodlawn Road reported that a wrought-iron loveseat and two black urns worth $500 were stolen from in front of her home, most likely between 3 and 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, according to police.

STOLEN FRENCH HORN, XBOX

A French horn worth approximately $3,000 and the internal hard drive of an Xbox worth $200 were stolen from the basement of a home on Trailwood Lane Friday, Oct. 28, according to police.

STOLEN LICENSE PLATE

A license plate was reported stolen from a car parked in the 1500 block of Shermer Road Tuesday, Oct. 25, according to police.

GRAPHIC GRAFFITI AT TECHNY

Someone spray-painted pictures of a male sex organ on a bridge located by the retention pond at Techny Park and Prairie some time before Monday, Oct. 24, according to police.
