Driving Under the Influence

Nicholas Reis, 24, of Skokie, was arrested July 26 at Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road and charged with driving with a revoked license, improper signaling and driving under the influence, according to police.

Young Eun, 39, of Rolling Meadows, was arrested July 26, at Dundee and Landwehr roads and charged with driving under the influence and other driving infractions after he reportedly was seen swerving along the road, according to police.

Keun Y. Lee, 55, of Glenview, was arrested July 30 at Dundee and Sanders roads and charged with speeding, driving under the influence and driving without insurance, according to police.

$52,000 Worth of Jewelry Stolen

A Yorkshire Lane resident reported that jewelry worth about $52,000 went missing from her bedroom between July 14 and 16. During that time, she said several individuals were doing work in her home. Police were investigating the theft.

1 Arrest at Teen Drinking Party

Officers investigated a complaint of a loud party on Shermer Road and discovered a group of teenagers drinking alcohol July 26. According to police, Christian Langlois, 18, was arrested and charged underage drinking of alcohol.

Police also issued tickets for the same charge to Brian J. Baroud, 18, of Northbrook; Shawn M. Carter, 19, of Mt. Prospect; Julian D. Ruiz, 20, of Kenosha, WI; Marcos A. Rendon, 20, of Northbrook; and a 17-year-old girl from Glenview.

Man Allegedly Imprisons Utility Worker

Alan M. Rubenstein, 43, of Northbrook, was charged with felony unlawful restraint after he allegedly locked a Nicor Gas employee inside his home July 25 and refused to let her leave, according to police.

Driving With A Suspended License

Diego A. Machuca, 24, of Palatine, was stopped for a traffic violation July 24 at Willow and Greenwood roads. According to police, he was arrested and charged with making an illegal turn on a red light and driving with a suspended license.

Johann Aranda, 29, of Morton Grove, was arrested after he was involved in a car accident on Dundee Road on July 29. According to the police report, he was charged with driving with a suspended license. 

Suspects' Getaway Stopped  

A Mundelein woman and a Palatine man were arrested July 24 after an attempted retail theft at the Dominick's supermarket on Dundee Road, according to police.

Dustin L. Gilbert, 29, allegedly tried to leave the store without paying for several items, and got into a 1994 Toyota driven by Myra A. Arteaga, 22, police reported.

The pair drove off but their vehicle was stopped at Dundee and Pfingsten roads by police, who charged them with retail theft.

Cannabis Hidden in Apple

An officer found two teenagers in a car at Northbrook Court during a check of the premises July 24. One teen, a 17-year-old boy from Northbrook, admitted to smoking cannabis, according to police. The officer confiscated a hollowed out apple and a sack with 2.5 grams of marijuana inside. Police cited the teen and released him to his parents.

Teen Theft Suspect Caught

Loss prevention officers at Nordstrom Rack stopped a 17-year-old girl July 27 as she attempted to leave the store without paying for nearly $90 in merchandise, according to police. She was cited for retail theft and released to her mother.

Thief Stole Mail, Left Envelopes

A resident of Barnsley Place told police that he came home July 27 and found all of his mail had been opened. The letters and other materials had been removed and the envelopes left at his doorstep.

Stolen Property

A man left his silver and blue Razor Scooter worth $60 by a wall outside the velodrome July 26, and returned 15 minutes later to find it missing, according to police.

A woman told police while at the Village Square Shopping Center on Skokie Boulevard, she left her wallet sitting inside her partially opened purse in a shopping cart July 27. At the cash register, she noticed her wallet was missing. The shopper reported it contained $43 in cash along with credit and debit cards. 

Co-Worker Suspected in Prank

A woman told police that a petroleum jelly-like substance was placed on the door handle of her car while it was parked at Dundee and Pfingsten roads July 30. “She believes one of her co-workers is responsible,” according to police.
