Blotter: ATM Emptied, Attempt Robbery at Pharmacy

Northbrook man arrested on outstanding warrants
Carlos Virella, 46, of Northbrook was arrested May 11 on two outstanding warrants out of DuPage County for forfeiting bond on a charge of a revoked driver’s license, police said. He was apprehended after a physical altercation with one of his roommates in the 1000 block of Sanders Road. Virella’s face was bruised and bloodied following the fight and after he was treated and released at Glenbrook Hospital, was taken into custody at the Northbrook police station, authorities said.

Lawrence La Coste, 62, of Northbrook was charged May 11 with domestic battery, police said. He was picked up in the 600 block of Fairway Drive in Glenview.
Attempt Armed Robbery at Dundee Pharmacy

A man walked into Dundee Pharmacy, 2750 Dundee Rd., May 12, pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded the drug Norco, a painkiller. The employee shoved him away from the door and locked himself in the back of the pharmacy. Witnesses to the incident told police that the suspect fled eastbound from the scene.
Theft at Skate Park
An iPhone was taken May 10 from the ledge of the skate ramp at Techny Prairie Skate Park, 1750 Techny Rd. The owner told police he had placed it there while riding his bike, and it was missing when he returned.
Theft at Northbrook Court
An iPad was taken May 10 when a shopper left it on the shelf at Sur La Table, Northbrook Court. When she returned the item was gone and it had not been turned in to Northbrook Court Security. The estimated loss was $500.
Theft at Glenbrook North HS
A wallet containing cash and miscellaneous IDs was stolen May 11 out of a backpack at Glenbrook North High School.
Suspended Driver’s License Arrest
Jerry D. Hill, 29, of Chicago was charged with driving on a suspended license May 11 after a traffic stop in the area of Willow Road and Patriot Boulevard, police said.
Suspended Driver’s License Arrest
Oscar Hernandez, 31, of Chicago was charged May 8 with driving on a suspended license and without proof of insurance after a traffic stop in the area of Dundee and Hawthorne, police said.
Burglary at Gas Station
An untold amount of cash was stolen sometime between May 7 and May 8 after someone entered a supply building in the car wash building at the CITGO, 501 Dundee Rd., and forced open the ATM machine with a pry tool.
