Blotter: Car Crash Results in DUI; 4 Cars Burglarized At J. Alexander's

The items below came from  reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 Driving Under the Influence

Nicholas N. Klingaman, 31, of Northbrook, was arrested at Dundee and Sanders roads Monday, Sept. 26, and charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash and driving under the influence after he was involved in a car accident, according to police.

Warrant Arrest

Marques A. Bryant, 25, of Oak Park, was arrested on a warrant for criminal trespassing Saturday, Oct. 1, when he called the police department looking for help because his intoxicated friends left town and he had no transportation, according to police. After officers arrived to help him at Milton and Angle avenues, they discovered there was a valid warrant for his arrest from the Waukegan Police Department. He was transported to Lake County Jail.

Woman Caught Stealing Beer For The Second Time

Sharon K. Chapley, 47, of Northbrook, was arrested and charged with retail theft Monday, Sept. 26, after she allegedly pushed open the closed doors of at 3:10 a.m. and took a case of beer, according to police. Police identified her as the same person who broke the glass revolving doors of Dominick’s and stole a case of beer at 5:01 a.m. on Sept. 25.

$300 Stolen From

Someone entered the gas station in the 1100 block of Waukegan Road through the roof and stole $300 from an unlocked safe Wednesday, Sept. 28, according to police.

Four Vehicles Broken Into At

Windows were shattered and items were stolen from four vehicles parked in the Jay Alexander’s parking lot between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, according to police. A briefcase and keys worth $500 were stolen from the first car; a laptop and Kindle worth $2,000 were stolen the second; a laptop and wireless internet card worth $2,000 were taken from the third; and a laptop, wireless internet card and keys worth $2,000 were stolen from the fourth.

Five vehicles were also broken into and various items stolen Thursday, Sept. 29, in the 4000 block of Lake Cook Road. 

Possession of Cannabis

Jarrod M. Feldman, 22, of Riverwoods, was issued local ordinance citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia on Saturday, Oct. 1, after a security officer found his black backpack abandoned in the lower court common area. Looking through the bag for ID, the security officer also discovered what appeared to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia, then turned it over to police.

A 17-year-old Northbrook boy was issued local ordinance tickets for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police stopped his car for suspicious activity at Highland Road and Whirlaway Drive Tuesday, Sept. 27. He consented to a K-9 search of his vehicle, and when the police dog arrived, informed police that there was cannabis in a water bottle in the center console and a glass pipe in the driver’s side door.

Theft

A cell phone was taken from a locker at Sunday, Sept. 25, according to police 

Criminal Damage To A Vehicle

Someone scratched the trunk lid of a vehicle parked in the 2800 block of Dundee Road Friday, Sept. 30, causing approximately $500 worth of damage, according to police.
