Blotter: El Cid Lane Burglary Suspect Arrested, 'Crack Pipe' Discovered

The police blotter for Feb. 15 - 20.

The items below come from Northbrook Police Department reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

EL CID LANE BURGLARY SUSPECT ARRESTED

A 17-year-old from Norridge was taken into custody in connection with the Feb. 1 . According to police, a man came to the home claiming he was with the management company for the complex. While he was distracting the resident, another man entered. Before the resident could confront the second man, the pair drove away. Police reported that at least three pieces of jewelry were taken, with a value between $9,000 and $13,000.

WARRANT ARREST

Garcia Luciano, 45, of Round Lake Beach, was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with driving without possessing a license, driving without insurance, driving on a suspended driver’s license and failing to yield while making a left turn, according to police. The warrant for his arrest came out of Lake County.

DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE, ‘CRACK PIPE’ DISCOVERED

Humberto Cruz, 40, of Chicago, was stopped for for a traffic violation Feb. 19, arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, according to police. He was processed and released on bond.

Joseph Wright, 53, of Bellwood, was “stopped for a suspicious vehicle,” Feb. 19, according to police, arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. While he was stopped, police investigated the car and found a crack pipe. According to police, passenger Joseph La Plume, 62, of Chicago, admitted that the pipe belonged to him. He was arrested and charged with illegal possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.

THIEVES BREAK INTO CARS AT NORTHBROOK COURT, J. ALEXANDER’S

A woman parked at Northbrook Court reported that someone stole her wallet from her unlocked vehicle Feb. 15, according to police.

When a man working in Northbrook Court returned to his work van in the parking lot Feb. 17, he noticed that the lock on the back passenger side door had been punched in, and that several tools were missing from inside his van, according to police. The total value of the missing items, which included power tools and a bag with telephone tools, came to approximately $950.

A man reported that while he was eating at J. Alexander’s Feb. 17, someone smashed the back driver’s side window of his car and took a black Nike bag containing a Dell laptop, according to police. The total value of the items stolen was approximately $850.

STOLEN WALLET

A woman reported that her wallet went missing from her purse while she was having lunch at Meatheads Feb. 18, according to police. When she called Chase Visa to report that her credit card had been stolen, she was told that someone had charged $300 on separate occasions at an unknown Target store.
