Holdup Attempt at Subway

On Sept. 10, a man ordered food from the Subway at Dundee and Sanders roads, then whipped out a gun from the waist of his pants and demanded money as the cashier opened the register, police said. The cashier shut the register and ran to the back room, according to police, while the gunman fled on foot. He was accompanied by another man who had placed an order shortly before him, police said.

Whole Foods Theft Arrest

Police arrested Christine N. Schaefer of Park Ridge on Sept. 5 after she left the Whole Food store on Willow Road without paying for a full shopping cart of groceries totaling $209, according to police. She was held at the police department until the next morning, when she was transported to Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

Parking Lot Confrontation

A woman called the police Sept. 8 after she was bumped by a car in the parking lot of the Village Square shopping center on Skokie Boulevard, police said. She told police she was talking on her cell phone as she pushed a shopping cart through the lot when she felt a car running into the side of her body.  She screamed at the driver, who responded, "Well you shouldn't be walking so slow and talking on your cell phone!" according to the report. Highland Park police tracked down the driver, Aaron Mosnaim of Highland Park, who was transported to the Northbrook Police Department and later released on $1,000 bond.

Lexus Lifted from Body Shop

Someone took a silver 2009 Lexus ES350 from Northbrook Toyota Auto Body on Skokie Boulevard on Sept. 8, police reported.

The above items are from Northbrook Police Department reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
