Blotter: Man Strikes Utility Pole in DUI; Attempted Burglary on Voltz Road

Police report activity for Oct. 11 - 17.

The items below came from  reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Driving Under the Influence 

Frank S. Molinaro, 60, of Glencoe, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 15, after he allegedly hit a ComEd pole and split it in half in the 500 block of Voltz Road, according to police. Molinaro was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage.

Leaving the Scene of An Accident

Julian Dominguez, 29, of Wheeling, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 13, at Cherry Lane and Meadow Road and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked license and making an improper U-turn, according to police.

Driving With A Suspended License

Vladimir V. Vareldzhyan, 28, of Glenview, was stopped for a traffic violation Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Dundee and Waukegan roads, arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, according to police.

Attempted Residential Burglary

A family living in the 500 block of Voltz Road left home around 3 p.m. and returned about 8:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, to discover pry marks on the front and rear doors, according to police. An unknown man was also reportedly observed running around the east side of the house, then heading westbound on Voltz. 

Unknown Man Throws A Punch At Skate Park

An unknown man in a pink shirt reportedly punched an individual at the skate park on Techny Road around 9:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, according police. Officers could not locate the individual. 

Retail Theft

Katharzyna Rydzewski, 38, of Northbrook, was allegedly seen walking out of the on Dundee Road Tuesday, Oct. 11, without paying for several items, according to police. She was arrested and charged with retail theft.

Denise Allyn Von Ruededn, 45, of Northbrook, was allegedly seen taking two DKNY shirts into a fitting room, putting them into her purse and leaving the store at Northbrook Court without paying on Tuesday, Oct. 11, according to police. She was issued a local ordinance citation for retail theft. 

Barbara H. Proeh, 68, of Highland Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she was allegedly seen taking a sweater worth $248 from at Northbrook Court on Friday, Oct. 15, according to police.

Svetlana Vladimirova, 50, of Buffalo Grove, was issued a local ordinance for retail theft Saturday, Oct. 16, after she was allegedly seen putting several items into her purse and leaving the store without paying at the on Willow Road, police reported.

Man Takes Off Without Paying Taxi Fare

A taxi driver picked up a man from O’Hare Airport and drove him to Waukegan Road and Founders Drive, where the man left and walked east through the ball fields and woods without paying his $55 fare, according to police.

Burglary to a Vehicle

Someone broke the rear driver’s side window of a car parked in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard Friday, Oct. 14, and stole a purse containing credit cards and a book of blank checks, according to police. The incident happened sometime between 4:30 and 9:30 p.m.

16- and 17-Year-Old Caught Smoking 

A 16-year-old boy from Northbrook and a 17-year-old boy from Deerfield were caught smoking in the courtyard of an apartment complex on Shermer Road Wednesday, Oct. 12, according to police. Police said they discovered that the 16-year-old had a pack of cigarettes and the 17-year-old had a can of chewing tobacco. The teens were issued local ordinance tickets for possession of tobacco under the age of 18.
