Blotter: Stolen Mink Coat, Jewelry Goes Missing, DUI

Also this week, an attempted theft from a tip jar and drug possession.

The following reports were provided by the Northbrook Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt.

Retail theft

An employee at a store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook reported a waist length mink coat valued at $3,490 missing on Dec. 10.  She noticed it was gone while restocking inventory, according to police.

Retail theft

Yanhong Zhen, 39, of San Francisco was charged with retail theft Dec. 10 after police said Zhen attempted to leave a store in the 100 block of Skokie Blvd. without paying for $170 in merchandise, according to police. Zhen was given a ticket and a Jan. 17 court date.

Burglary

A resident of the 3000 block of Pheasant Creek Dr. reported Dec. 10 that an unknown person(s) stole approximately seven rings and five necklaces from the dressers in her bedroom, according to police.

Attempted theft

A male subject tried to take money from the tip jar of a restaurant in the 2800 block of Dundee Road on Dec. 10.

Retail theft

Nadia Martynenko, 38, of Wheeling, was charged with retail theft Dec. 11 after attempting to leave a store in the 800 block of Willow Road with $43.96 in items she hadn’t paid for, police said. She was issued a ticket and given a Jan. 9 court date.

Theft

A man told police that his Apple iPhone4S went missing while shopping at Northbrook Court Dec. 12.

Damage to vehicle

Someone damaged the top of a vehicle in the 2300 block of Shermer Road Dec. 13 between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. It appears that the damage was done by someone’s fist, police said.

DUI, resisting arrest

Grzegorz Zalewski was charged with DUI and resisting arrest after he was found in his van at the corner of Oakleaf and Ferndale Dec. 14 at 9:42 a.m. According to police, someone reported that a man was unresponsive behind the steering wheel of a van. The Northborook Fire Department responded and it was determined that Zalewski was intoxicated. He was taken to Glenbrook Hospital and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11.

Underage drinking

Andrew Russell, 20, of Northbrook was given a ticket for underage drinking after police said an officer saw him walking unsteadily just after midnight on Dec. 15. He was taken to his father’s home and given a court date of Jan. 17.

Drug possession

Jose Eduardo Roldan-Vazquez, 26, of Mt. Prospect, was cited for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia on Dec. 15 after a traffic stop in which he was a passenger, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 17.
