Blotter: Strangers Approach 2 Boys; $25,000 Worth of Jewelry Stolen

Strange Men Approach Young Boys

Two men in a silver or grey sedan approached a 13-year-old and 11-year-old boy as they were walking home from school at Willow and Greenwood roads around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, according to police. The men offered the boys candy, and when they kept walking, asked if they could help find a lost dog. 

Warrant Arrest, Suspended License

Police stopped Daniel Dominguez-Cruz for driving an overloaded pickup truck at the intersection of Lake Cook Road and the Edens Expressway Saturday, Sept. 18. They discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest from Michigan, for unauthorized use of a vehicle warrant, and that his license had been suspended in both Illinois and Michigan. He was arrested and charged with driving with unsafe equipment, unlawful use of registration and driving with a suspended license, according to police. 

Driving Without a License

Eugenio L. Gomez, 29, of Wheeling, was stopped for a traffic violation and charged with driving without a license Friday, Feb. 17, at Willow and Pfingsten roads, according to police. 

Driving With A Suspended License

Lawrence D. Pence, 48, of Grayslake, was stopped for a traffic violation, arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane Sunday, Feb. 12, police reported. 

Gheorghe Ban, 33, of Skokie, was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested at the intersection of Lake Cook Road and U.S. 41 Wednesday, Sept. 15, according to police. He was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license.

Karrie J. Langen, 25, of Buffalo Grove, was stopped for a traffic violation and arrested in the 2700 block of Patriot Boulevard Wednesday, Sept. 15, police reported. She was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license. 

Open Container of Alcohol in the Car

Joseph M. Lutz, 31, of Skokie, was charged with having an open container of alcohol in a car after an officer stopped the vehicle he was riding in for a traffic violation in the 1100 block of Meadow Road Saturday, Sept. 18, according to police. 

Harassment by Telephone

Ronald M. Christensen, 47, of Northbrook, was arrested and charged with harassment by telephone after he allegedly called Village Hall and left several extended messages, according to police. Police had warned him in the past to have no further contact with Village Hall unless it was for legitimate purposes.

$25,000 Worth of Jewelry Stolen

Approximately $25,000 worth of jewelry went missing from a home in the 1300 block of Ridge Road sometime before Friday, Feb. 17, according to police.

Stolen Gasoline

Someone siphoned approximately 211 gallons of diesel fuel from the underground tank of the Citgo station in the 500 block of Dundee Road during the night of Tuesday, Feb. 14, according to police. The loss was estimated at $812. 

Retail Theft

Elizabeth F. Kelleher, 48, of Glenview, was issued a ticket for retail theft in the 800 block of Willow Road Sunday, Feb. 12, according to police.  

Cars Scratched at GBN

A car was keyed Thursday, Feb. 16, while it was parked in the Glenbrook North parking lot, police reported.   

In a separate incident, someone scraped words and symbols into another car while it was parked in the Glenbrook North parking lot Friday, Feb. 17, according to police.
