Blotter: Teens Playing With Fire; Woman Turns Herself In For Shoplifting

TEENS PLAYING WITH FIRE BEHIND VILLAGE HALL

Six boys, aged 15 to 16, were found kicking pieces of burning cardboard around behind Village Hall, police reported.  The boys were issued tickets and turned over to their parents.

WOMAN TURNS HERSELF; SUSPECTED OF RETAIL THEFT

Viktoria Shvets, 26, of Wheeling, voluntarily came to the police department last week, where she claimed responsibility for a theft that occurred Nov. 9 at a Dominicks.  She admitted to stealing from stores on a regular basis, and was arrested and placed in a cell, pending a bond hearing.

Slawomir Wyszynski, 47, of Northbrook, was arrested Dec. 3 and charged with improper lane usage, speeding, expired registration, and driving under the influence, police reported.  He was released on bond.

DRIVING WITHOUT A VALID LICENSE

David Cruz-Mujica, 23, of Wheeling, was arrested Nov. 29 and charged with driving without valid insurance or a valid license, police reported.  He was released on bond.

MAC COMPUTERS LIFTED IN OFFICE BURGLARY

A woman arriving for work Nov. 29 found that the front door glass had been smashed, police reported.  Inside, it was found that two iMac computers and keyboards had been stolen, a loss totaling approximately $2,200.

STOLEN LOUIS VUITTON SHADES; SUSPECTED SHOPLIFTER NABBED AT MACY'S

On Nov. 28, an unknown white male, described as being around 6', 185 pounds, and approximately 35 years old, entered a Louis Vuitton store briefly and walked out.  After leaving, an employee noted an empty spot on the display case where there had been a pair of sunglasses valued at $530.

After she was observed on Tuesday, Nov. 30, removing $58 worth of merchandise without paying from Macy's, Elizabeth Lupton, 28, of Lake Forest, was arrested and charged with retail theft, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.

BURGLARY TO A VEHICLE

A resident of Essex Dr. reported that an unknown person broke into his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway and stole a Garmin GPS, valued at about $260, according to police.The incident happened sometime between Nov. 29 and 30.

On Wednesday, Dec. 1, police received a report that someone stole a rear snow plow from Smith's Tire and Auto on Waukegan Rd., worth an estimated $500.

A resident of Quail Ln. reported that a pair of gloves, a hat, and $5 was stolen from their vehicle on Friday, Dec. 3.

The above items come from Northbrook Police Department reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
