Blotter: Underage Drinking, Identity Theft

The police blotter for Feb. 21 - 27.

The items below come from Northbrook Police Department reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

Three teenagers were stopped for a traffic violation at Sunset Ridge Road and Shadowood Lane on Feb. 26, and an officer discovered open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle, according to police. One 17-year-old from Northbrook was charged with traffic offenses. Another 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, Mark Lee, both from Northbrook, were charged with underage drinking and driving with an open container of alcohol, according to police.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

A 40-year-old Northfield man was arrested Feb. 27 at Willow and Shermer roads and charged with speeding, driving under the influence and driving with an open container of alcohol, according to police.

Victor Chrzastowski, 19, of Northbrook, was arrested Feb. 27 at Dundee and Sanders roads and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and driving without insurance, according to police.

DRUG POSSESSION ARRESTS

Rocco Raschillo, 21, of Glenview, was arrested Feb. 25 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. An officer found Raschillo asleep in his vehicle on Ash Lane and then discovered a controlled substance in the car, according to police.

Alexander Musick, 18, of Buffalo Grove, was arrested Feb. 26 and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

$3,200 SPENT IN CREDIT FRAUD

A woman reported to police that 17 unauthorized charges made Feb. 21-22 were found on her credit card statement. The amount was $3,216.51, excluding three more charges that her credit card company declined. When she contacted her card issuer, it informed her that all of the unauthorized transactions were made online, according to police.

RETAIL THEFT AT LOUIS VUITTON, NORDSTROM RACK

A store employee reported the theft of a wallet at Louis Vuitton on Feb. 23, according to police. The employee noticed a man and a woman enter the store. The man picked up a wallet and dropped it when the employee approached him. Meanwhile, the woman made a purchase, and then the pair left the store. After they left, the employee discovered that the wallet was missing. When police reviewed the store’s surveillance video, they saw the man dropping the wallet into the bag the woman was holding as they left the store. 

Maria Tatar, 66, of Skokie, was arrested Feb. 25 and charged with retail theft, according to police. She allegedly took nine pieces of jewelry valued at $176 from Nordstrom Rack.

COUNTERFEIT $50 BILL

An employee of Marcello’s reported to police on Feb. 26 that someone had passed a counterfeit $50 bill to one of his delivery drivers, according to police.

STOLEN IPHONE, GOLD JEWELRY

A woman reported that her iPhone was stolen as she was getting off the Metra train Feb. 20. The cell phone was valued at $599, according to police.

A resident told police on Feb. 21 that $7,700 worth of jewelry was stolen from a dresser drawer. The items included two gold bracelets, a gold chain with diamonds, two gold rings, a gold pendant and two gold medallions.
