Blotter: Warrant Arrest, Marijuana-Fogged Windows

Driving Under the Influence

A 23-year-old Northbrook man was arrested Sept. 27 on Techny Rd on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and driving with suspended registration, according to police. He was released on $1,000 bond.

A 57-year-old Northbrook woman called the records department around 4 p.m. Sept. 28, according to police, and "sounded intoxicated." Police then checked their records and found that there was a warrant out for her arrest for driving under the influence. Police went to her home to check on her, where they found her intoxicated, arrested her, and took her in to the police department. She was held in a cell there until 7 a.m. the next morning, when she was taken to Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie for a bond hearing, according to police.

On Oct. 1, police went to check out a call about a female driver who seemed to be sleeping at the wheel of her vehicle, which was parked on Willow Rd. near Shermer Rd., according to police reports. Police saw her vehicle facing westbound in the eastbound left turn lane and approached to speak to her. But according to police reports, the 53-year-old Northbrook resident began drooling and could not speak complete words. The Fire Department checked her blood sugar level, which was normal, but both the police and fire department noticed a strong odor of alcohol and police found two empty wine bottles and one full wine bottle in her vehicle. The woman was transported to Glenbrook Hospital and then held at the police department until 7 a.m. the next day, when she was taken to Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie for a bond hearing.

Possession of Cannabis

Police observed fogged windows and the smell of marijuana coming from a car parked on Antelope Springs Rd. Oct. 3, according to police reports. Police asked the two occupants of the vehicle for their IDs, then noticed marijuana on the floor in the car. The 20-year-old Northbrook owner of the car was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and the passenger was released without charges.

 

Curfew Violation

A 16-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy, both from Northbrook, were taken to the police department at 2:32 a.m. Oct. 3 for violating curfew. The parents were contacted and the juveniles released.

 

Revoked License

A 46-year-old Prospect Heights woman was arrested Sept. 30 at Willow Rd and Virginia on charges of turning on red where it was prohibited, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with a revoked license, according to police. She was released on $2,000 bond.

 

Suspended License

A 28-year-old Round Lake Beach man was arrested for driving without a license at Pfingsten Rd. and Crabree Ln. Sept. 30. He was released on $1,500 bond.

 

Theft at the Nestle Construction Site and at Nordstrom Rack

A resident of the 800 block of Sunset Ridge reported Sept. 27 that someone had broken the hasp on a storage box and removed several power tools valued at more than $3,000, according to police.

A foreman on the construction site of the new Nestle Pizza Division building on Sunset Ridge Road reported that someone had cut the lock on the site and stolen a pipe threading machine on Sept. 28, according to police. The machine was valued at $3,500.

A 17-year-old Vernon Hills boy was arrested for taking a pair of $130 jeans at the Nordstrom Rack on Skokie Blvd. Oct. 2.

 

Arson in the Park

Police reported that someone burned a two-foot area of playground padding estimated at $1,000 in Wescott Park. The arson took place sometime between Sept. 25 and 27, according to police.

 

Writing on the Wall

Police discovered writing on a hinge in the men's bathroom, on the mirror, on the platform and on two newspaper boxes Sept. 28 at the Metra station.
