Blotter: Window Broken In Domestic Battery; Donation Box Stolen

Maria J. Martinez, 35, of Chicago, was stopped for a traffic violation Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Shermer Road and Church Street. She was arrested on charges of failing to signal when required, improper lane usage, speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving under the influence, according to police.

Peter G. Katsoyannis, 20, of Winnetka, was stopped for a traffic violation at Shermer Road and Raymond Drive Friday, Sept. 23. He was charged with speeding, making an improper turn, two counts of improper lane usage, driving without proof of insurance, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

CAR ACCIDENT RESULTS IN ARREST

Nancy Chavez-Ortigoza, 31, of Wheeling, was arrested on charges of driving without a valid license after she was involved in a car accident at Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road Friday, Sept. 23, according to police.

BURGLAR BREAKS DOOR, STEALS BEER FROM DOMINICK’S

A woman broke the revolving door to the west side entrance of on Dundee Road at 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, and stole a case of beer, according to police. She left through the same door and took off eastbound on Dundee Road on foot.

UNDERAGE POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL

Josiah Joshua Paul Kuhn, 18, of Highland Park, was seen exiting a liquor store with a case of beer Friday, Sept. 23, according to police. Believing Kuhn was likely to be underage, an officer stopped Kuhn in his vehicle at Dundee and Waukegan roads and checked his license. Kuhn was issued a local ordinance ticket for possession of alcohol under the age of 21 and released, police reported. An officer confiscated three cases of beer and Kuhn’s driver’s license.

An employee at the store where he bought the beer denied selling him alcohol, according to police.

WINDOW SHATTERED IN DOMESTIC BATTERY

Tammy L. McCarrick, 41, of Glenview, was charged with domestic battery after she allegedly punched through a glass garage door window on Walters Avenue and struck her boyfriend in the face, Sunday, Sept. 25, according to police. Her boyfriend suffered a bloody nose, several small lacerations on the tip of his nose and had glass particles in his eyes. McCarrick suffered lacerations on her arm and was transported to Glenbrook Hospital for treatment of those cuts and for her level of intoxication, police reported.

$1,355 FELONY RETAIL THEFT

[Name Removed], 42, of Minnetonka, MN, was arrested Sunday, Sept. 18, at , after she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for $1,355 in merchandise, police reported.

UNLAWFUL USE OF A CREDIT CARD

An unauthorized charge of $1,725 was made to an online electronics supply company on the credit card of a Church Street resident, according to police. The credit card’s owner cancelled the card.

DONATION BOX STOLEN FROM TEMPLE BETH EL

A donation box and gift shop box containing approximately $90 altogether were reported missing from Temple Beth El Friday, Sept. 23, according to police.

THEFT

A turbo silencer worth $20 was stolen from the exhaust muffler of a parked car at Sunday, Sept. 18, according to police.

Someone stole a backpack from an unlocked vehicle parked at Starbucks on Skokie Boulevard on Wednesday, Sept. 21, according to police. The backpack contained an Apple iPad with leather cover, Apple Mac Book, several thumb drives and paperwork. The items were valued at approximately $2,200 total.

Several rings were reported missing from a jewelry box in a Dauphine Avenue home on May 8.

A red 15” Specialized Hard Rock bicycle worth $500 was taken from a home on the 2300 block of Catherine Street Tuesday, Sept. 20, according to police.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE

Several scratches appeared on the right front fender of vehicle that was parked in a lot on the 3500 block of Woodhead Drive the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 21, according to police. Damage was estimated at $200.
