Body in Pond Identified as Deerfield Man

The 45-year-old drowned. Foul play is not suspected, police said.

The body pulled out of a Deerfield pond Friday morning has been identified as 45-year-old Brian Grundei of Deerfield, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo.

He was found in a pond in the Coromandel subdivision at Waukegan and Kates.

The cause of death is drowning, but there has not yet been a ruling on whether it was an accident or suicide, Portillo said. The coroner's office will get a toxicology report back in four to six weeks, he said, and will work with the Deerfield Police Department to determine the manner of death.
